The Kentucky Council of Teachers of English/Language Arts, Inc. is an incorporated non-profit, service organization for Kentucky English and Language Arts teachers of all levels (Kindergarten-Graduate School). KCTE/LA has been recognized by the National Council of Teachers of English as one of the more active state affiliates.

To submit student art, you must be a KCTE/LA member.

It must reflect our mission and goal (kcte.org) Literacy for all.

 Check the Call for Manuscripts on the Publication Tab of our website - you can see what the upcoming theme will be for each journal. Also keep in mind that we publish a Student Writing Issue every year and that does not change.

The Gretchen Niva Service Award is given each year to an outstanding proponent of English/Language Arts and literacy. It is not required that this recipient be a classroom teacher.
KCTE/LA sponsors a writing contest at the Elementary, Middle, High School, and College levels in with winners in first through fifth place in the following four categories:
  1. Narrative/Real or Imagined
  2. Informative/Explanatory
  3. Opinion/Argumentative
  4. Poetry
Submissions can be entered by any current member of KCTE (Email membership@kcte.org to check membership status)
